National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme is an initiative of the Government of India, administered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Its purpose is the holistic development of students through active participation in community service.
It is a voluntary organisation for young people in colleges, universities and at the +2 level. Its central mission is to bridge the gap between educational institutions and the communities around them, with particular emphasis on rural areas.
NSS Day 24 September has been NSS Day since 1969, marking the founding of the Scheme. The University observes it on campus each year.
