National Cadet Corps
Swami Vivekananda University hosts a unit of the National Cadet Corps, and we count it among the opportunities we are proudest to put in front of our students. The Corps is run under the Ministry of Defence and is the largest uniformed youth organisation in the country; our cadets train under the same battalion, and to the same standard, as those of institutions across West Bengal.
What the Corps asks of a cadet is what we hope every student here takes away in any case: character, comradeship, discipline and a readiness to serve. Cadets drill and train through the year, take part in camps, parades and social service, and may go on to the national camps and the certificate examinations the Corps conducts - certificates that are recognised in recruitment to the armed forces and to public service.
The unit is open to students of every school and department of the University, in both the Senior Division for men and the Senior Wing for women. No previous training is expected of anyone who joins. Students who would like to enrol should speak to the University office, and the allotment letter below sets out the terms the Corps has laid down.
