The highest standards of publication ethics are upheld by publishers, and every possible measure against publication malpractice is taken by us as a publisher. Authors submitting articles to any of our journals, or proposals to one of our book series, are required to attest that their work is original and unpublished and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. In addition, it is confirmed by authors that their journal article is their own; it has not been plagiarized, and actual or potential conflicts of interest with their work or partial benefits associated with it have been disclosed. This policy is fairly and aggressively policed by us.
The responsibility for determining the publication acceptance of submitted articles to the "Journal of Advance Agricultural Research" published by Swami Vivekananda University, Kolkata lies with the Editor(s)-in-Chief. In the case of journals, the Editor-in-Chief may consider the perspectives of the journal's editorial board. Additionally, the Editor-in-Chief may consult with other editors or reviewers when making such decisions.
The Editors-in-Chief of a journal also guarantee that every manuscript undergoes a minimum of two 'blind' peer reviews (with efforts underway to implement double-blind review for certain journals). Additionally, prior to acceptance for consideration, we utilize an industry-standard tool to detect plagiarism, promptly rejecting any paper exceeding a similarity score of 20%. Individual journals retain the flexibility to establish lower similarity thresholds if desired.
The book series editors serve as the primary quality assessors for book proposals, yet each proposal must also undergo review by at least one additional reviewer. Moreover, random verifications are conducted on the other listed editors or authors of such proposals to confirm their awareness of inclusion in the proposals.
Any unpublished materials revealed in a submitted manuscript may not be utilized by individuals who have access to the manuscript for their own research purposes without explicit written consent from the author. We regularly refresh and update our reviewer database and conduct periodic spot checks to ensure that all referees maintain integrity in their actions.
Manuscripts will be assessed based solely on their intellectual merit, disregarding authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. Our transition to double-blind reviewing aims to further promote this principle.
The Editor in Chief/editors and our editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.
The Editor in Chief/editors and our editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.
Reviews should be conducted impartially, avoiding personal criticism of the author. Reviewers are expected to express their opinions clearly, supported by reasoned arguments. We are working towards transitioning all journals to a double-blind reviewing system by 2022. Currently, all reviews are blind, with some employing a double-blind process.
Reviewers are expected to identify pertinent published work that has not been referenced by the authors. Any information previously reported elsewhere should be accompanied by the appropriate citation. Reviewers should also bring to the attention of the Editors-in-Chief any significant similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published paper within their personal knowledge.
Reviewers must abstain from assessing manuscripts in cases where they have conflicts of interest stemming from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.
Authors of original research reports are expected to provide a precise description of the conducted work along with an impartial discussion of its importance. The underlying data should be accurately represented within the paper, and sufficient details and references should be included to enable replication of the work by others. Engaging in fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements is considered unethical behavior and is not acceptable.
Authors may be requested to submit the raw data associated with a paper for editorial review and should be ready to grant public access to it if feasible. Regardless, authors should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable period following publication.
Authors must ensure that their works are entirely original. If authors have incorporated the work and/or words of others, proper citation or quotation is essential.
As a general rule, authors should refrain from publishing manuscripts that describe essentially the same research in multiple journals or primary publications. Simultaneously submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal is considered unethical publishing behavior and is not acceptable.
Authors must consistently provide proper acknowledgment of the work done by others. It is essential for authors to cite publications that have significantly influenced the reported work's nature.
Authorship should be restricted to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study being reported. All individuals making significant contributions should be credited as co-authors. Those who have participated in specific substantive aspects of the research project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.
Each author should disclose any financial or other significant conflict of interest in their manuscript that could potentially affect the results or interpretation. Additionally, all sources of financial support for the project should be fully disclosed.
If an author identifies a substantial error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their responsibility to promptly inform us and collaborate with us to retract or rectify the article.
